Making a pizza the size of the sun! Adding all of the toppings you could think of.

How it Connects: Students will be able to comprehend words in the poem and what it is about. They will also be able to view how poetry is set up with the different stanzas.

How it Connects: This poem is about food, so it appeals to many of the readers senses. The story also has many complex words that would help students work on their comprehension

Classroom Usage
Centers: The teacher can choose a day to make pizzas in the class. The teacher can split the students up into groups so that everyone has job to help make the pizza. He/she could also read the story while the students eat the pizza.

Differentiation
This book shows ELL what different genres look like, and how to identify poems- learn about repetition and stanzas.
