Annotation
On Zuckerman's farm, Charlotte the spider tells the reader of her feelings for a pig names Wilbur, who just wants a friend. They also express the love of a girl named Fern, who saved Wilbur's life when he was born the runt of his litter.

1.) Ask and answer questions such as who, what, where, when, why, and how to demonstrate understanding of key details in a text.

How it Connects: Students can discuss the characters, setting, and plot of the story to show their understanding.

Craft and Structure- Grade 1
3.) Describe the connection between two individuals, events, ideas, or pieces of information in a text.

How it Connects: Students can describe the relationship between Wilbur and Fern, and the events they go through together.

Classroom Usage
Independent Reading: Students can read silently to work on a more complex text and their comprehension. 

Differentiation
This is a more complex book, because it has chapters. This would be good for ELL because of its complexity, and it has chapters which will introduce them to something harder to read than just regular picture books.
